When you're running out of Ideas.. (just kidding)

Hello again and welcome back to another update!

This month’s blog took a little longer to finish, mostly because I’ve been searching for the perfect photos to accompany it. As you might know by now, I have an overwhelming amount of photos, and simply flicking through them is impossible. I always find myself getting lost in memories or researching newer ones—whether from museum visits, moments spent in nature, a plant I want to identify, or even screenshots of events I hope to attend. It’s an ongoing task, and while I’ve brought it upon myself, it also offers me a chance to relax differently.

A few days ago, I decided to add some spontaneous photos I took while snoozing with George, my cat, in between jewellery-making sessions. The angle and filter I used worked out wonderfully!

Let's, move on quickly to more exciting news!

I’m thrilled that my work has found a home in three exclusive boutiques across Switzerland. Marina Anouilh’s flagship store in Gstaad, located in the heart of the main shopping street alongside brands like Prada, Hermès, and Dolce & Gabbana, to name just a few, and is now showcasing my jewellery. Marina, a woman with impeccable taste, saw that my pieces perfectly complement her collection, which features beautifully curated clothing, candles, bags, and more. Her other boutiques are located within the prestigious Grieder Bon Genie department stores in Geneva and Zurich, both known for their exclusivity. Marina will also be opening another of her boutiques in Geneva later this year.

I love this steady, serene growth. I create each jewel individually with my own hands and mind, enjoying the rhythm it brings to my life as I also have a few other tasks to run —like writing this blog!

You’ve probably heard of writer’s block – well, I experience it quite often. While I’m far from being a writer, I consider myself an artist who loves to sculpt, draw, and paint (no jewellery involved there!) and I need plenty of time to think, and for that, I need space. On those days, I head out—whether into nature or off into the city—which works wonders for my creative energy and does wonders for my soul.

You all know that jewellery making is my passion, but I also adore living, life and other sort of enjoyment! I love to dance and immerse myself in city culture, which feels so natural, as living in a village is still new to me. Whether I visit museums—a love that began when I was nine years old, my studies in art and architecture have sharpened my eye over the years, when I’m out exploring in town.

Whether I’m sipping an espresso in Italy, hiking in the mountains, or visiting nearby cities like Lucerne, Zurich, Basel, Bern, Milan, or Como (just to name a few), will make anyone happy.

In my village, we’ve hosted land art exhibitions for a couple of years. It has been great to wander through forests or along riverside paths to discover nature-inspired creations made from earth materials. This year, and for the first time, we hosted an incredible contemporary art exhibition, made possible through a collaboration between Peter Kilchmann, a renowned gallerist from Zurich, and the visionary curator Dorothea Strauss—bringing art directly to me in the mountains.

At these moments I realise even more that I'm alive, and that the deeper layers of thinking, also lay at the heart of my jewellery. I have always looked at things in a different context for as long as I can remember. Art is ingrained in me, both as a spectator and as a student—long before I began creating jewellery.

My latest jewellery series, “Candid” features bold geometric shapes. These angled forms are familiar to me—if you’ve seen my Purely Wired collection, you’ll see some of the angular shapes there too and in the past, I created some square rings for the Conversation Pieces collection, and when they were sold, the idea of square rings has stayed with me.

In the past few months, I’ve sent my rings across Europe for various promotions and sold quite a few along the way. Since I make one-of-a-kind pieces, I had to replace these jewels on my website with new designs faster than expected, and without first introducing them here to you.. I had planned to share any new work through this blog or my newsletter, but the need to quickly complete the photography and listings sped up the process. I’ll aim to keep you updated through my newsletters in the future.

New additions to the webshop that slipped in without telling you first are Pandora, from the Candid series, Gladys, Innae, Bluebell, and Zahra, Juliette, Lupina, Magma, and necklace Ophelia from the Conversation Pieces collection. New one-of-a-kind jewels for the Purely Wired collection are KozJony, Verve, Ster, Trixie, Cata, Verina, Sapir, Inat, Kiva, Yola, Elsie and Minnie. Click on each of the blue underlined names, to see them for yourself.

If you’re curious and want to know even more, do reach out the me! I’d love to share what else I'm working on or you can wait for my next blog.

Finally, I’m excited to also introduce my chain necklaces. They were always part of my work, as they had to fit my pendants and stone necklaces, I just never really emphasised them—until now. Recently, more clients have been asking about these larger chain link necklaces, and they’ve shared how much they love these simple, yet unique designs to go with their pendants. While a chain may seem just like a chain, each link is hand-shaped by me, in varying thicknesses and subtly adjustments to its form. The lengths can be ordered. So, I'm thrilled to announce that I’ve just added the first few chain necklaces to my webshop: Bina and Bracha, part of a new series is called “Get in Line.” I hope you’ll appreciate this kind of tongue-in-cheek humour because it's so me.

In our next blog rendezvous, I’ll bring more exciting updates.

Sheila xx
